Small Savings records growth

Chennai, Jan 31: Net collections under small saving scrips have shown record growth during the current fiscal in Tamil Nadu, a press release here said. 

There has been a growth from Rs.944.76 cr during the first three quarters of 2001-02 to Rs.1379.41 cr during the corresponding period in the current year. The increase of Rs.434.65 cr represents an overall growth of 46.01 per cent during the corresponding period in the current fiscal, the release added. 

Growth in net collections during the third quarter alone equals Rs.226.6 cr, which is 56.6 percent higher than that of the third quarter of the previous fiscal. 

An increasing trend of 17.5 percent, 49.8 percent and 56.6 percent over the corresponding quarters of the previous year has been noticed, the release said. 

Gross mobilization for the first three quarters has grown from Rs.2600.26 cr to Rs.3483.21 cr.
