Small Savings Collections higher in current fiscal

CHENNAI, Jan,30. Small Savings collections in Tamil Nadu showed a record growth of 46 per cent, in the first three quarters of the current fiscal, compared to the corresponding period last year.

A Small Savings Directorate release noted that the net collections under small savings scrips (gross collections minus withdrawals) in the first three quarters of 2002-2003 were Rs.1379.41 crores, up from Rs.944.76 crores in the corresponding period during 2001-02. The growth in net collections in the third quarter alone was Rs.226.6 crores, 56 percent, higher than the previous year’s third quarter. The gross collections for the first three quarters grew from Rs.2,600 crores last year to Rs.3483.21 crores in the current fiscal.
